Day in the life of a Support Services Worker

A typical day may include:

  • laundry (washing, drying, folding)
  • vacuuming, dusting, and general housekeeping
  • meal preparation and grocery shopping
  • taking out rubbish and organising home spaces
  • sharing a chat and a cuppa with clients who love a friendly visit.

No two days are the same, and that’s what makes this role so special.

What we’re looking for

We’re looking for people who are reliable, caring, and enjoy helping older Queenslanders live comfortably and independently in their own homes.

To succeed in this role, you will have:

  • experience in cleaning, housekeeping or domestic support services
  • confidence using cleaning equipment and products
  • the ability to follow domestic care plans
  • clear communication skills and the ability to maintain professional boundaries with clients and their families
  • demonstrated ability to be able to work independently and effectively with the elderly
  • the physical capability to carry out household tasks, including standing, stooping, crouching, kneeling and reaching throughout the day.

Do you have a certificate III in Aged Care?
