As a Home Care Worker, you’ll support clients to live safely and comfortably in their own homes for as long as possible. From helping with daily tasks like meal preparation and personal care to providing social connection and transport to appointments, your role makes a real difference in people’s lives.

Qualifications requirements

Home Care Workers are required to hold a Certificate III in Individual Support, Aged Care, Home and Community Care, or an equivalent qualification. If you don’t hold a Certificate III qualification, you may be better suited to a Support Services Worker role. Learn more about a role as a Support Services Worker.

Day in the life of a Home Care Worker

No two days are the same as a Home Care Worker. You’ll travel between clients, helping them maintain their independence and quality of life in their own homes.

Your work may include:

  • personal care and grooming
  • medication reminders and general wellbeing checks
  • helping with shopping and appointments
  • meal preparation and light household tasks
  • providing companionship and social support.
