Common questions

Here are the most frequently asked questions we receive about QCSS funding.

You may be eligible for the Queensland Community Support Scheme if you are under 65 (or under 50 for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people), are not eligible for the National Disability Insurance Scheme, and have a disability, chronic illness, mental health condition or other circumstances that make it harder to live independently in the community.

The community support program in Queensland usually refers to the Queensland Community Support Scheme (QCSS). It is a state-funded program that provides non-clinical support such as personal care, social support, and light household assistance, so people can stay safely at home, stay connected to their community and avoid needing higher-level care too early.

Community support services under QCSS can include help with shopping, meal preparation, household tasks, attending appointments, building social connections and learning skills for independent living. Supports are flexible and tailored to each person’s goals and needs.
