Youth Homelessness Project

Anglicare Southern Queensland has committed to raising $14 million to build a youth homelessness service in Logan, that aims to address the escalating housing crisis.

Prioritising quality housing for young people

Adequate housing is a fundamental human right. Quality housing is proven to have positive psychological and psychosocial impacts as well as enhancing independence and self-agency. Anglicare believes that every young person deserves to come home to a positive living environment where they know they are cared for and where they feel safe and supported.

Anglicare’s Youth Homelessness Project features a modern build that is custom designed to support young people (aged 16-25) who are either experiencing, or at risk of experiencing, homelessness.

In addition to accommodation in a first-class facility, residents will be able to access wrap-around support focused on their social and emotional wellbeing and their journey toward independence. This may include a range of psychological and psychosocial supports, connection to education, training and employment opportunities, relationship building, financial literacy and other forms of counselling, and cultural and spiritual connections

For as long as a young person is accommodated with us, this housing is designed to provide them with their own, individual space and a place that they can call home. This service will provide young people with the stability and space they need to pursue the future they choose for themselves.

The project will include:

  • 24 studio apartments and six one-bedroom apartments
  • Some provision for single families (2 beds) and couples (1 bed)
  • 24/7 on-site staff management and security measures
  • Off-street parking
  • Convenient access to shopping centres, business and civic centres, a local sports centre, public green spaces, and public transport

Construction has now commenced, creating jobs and an economic boost for the area, and is expected to be completed in mid-2026

Addressing an increasing community issue

Recent data shows that nearly a quarter of Australians experiencing homelessness are aged between 12 and 24.  Additionally, the Brisbane South/Logan corridor has a significant shortage of immediate need accommodation for young people facing homelessness.

We know that with stable housing and the right support network, young people can positively change their life trajectory by securing employment, education, and long-term housing.

Help support homeless youth

At Anglicare, we’re here to help those at risk to find a home, but we can’t do it alone.  We are seeking donors, corporate partners and advocates to help realise this important community project, and welcome financial and in-kind contributions of any size.
