Protections
Under the Aged Care Act 2024, there are stronger protections in place for anyone who raises concerns about aged care services. This is known as Whistleblower Protection.
The Whistleblower Protection ensures that anyone can report potential issues, such as neglect, abuse, unsafe practices, or breaches of the law, without fear of punishment or unfair treatment.
- Complaint or Feedback – An Expression of dissatisfaction where a response or resolution is expected or required or any positive, negative or neutral input on services received.
- Whistleblower Disclosure – when someone reports something they believe might break the rules / law under the Aged Care Act 2024 (i.e. suspected serious wrongdoing that could include illegal, unsafe or unethical behaviour).
