Learn more about our Youth Homelessness Project
Youth homelessness is one of the fastest growing issues in Australia
Every year, more than 28,000 young people across our state experience homelessness. That is a teenager without a safe place to sleep, or a young adult forced to choose between shelter and opportunity.
Anglicare believes that every young person deserves to come home to a positive living environment where they know they are cared for and where they feel safe and supported.
Anglicare’s Youth Homelessness Project features a modern build that is custom designed to support young people (aged 16-25) who are either experiencing, or at risk of experiencing, homelessness.
In addition to accommodation in a first-class facility, residents will be able to access wrap-around support focused on their social and emotional wellbeing and their journey toward independence. This may include a range of psychological and psychosocial supports, connection to education, training and employment opportunities, relationship building, financial literacy and other forms of counselling, and cultural and spiritual connections.
For as long as a young person is accommodated with us, this housing is designed to provide them with their own, individual space and a place that they can call home. This service will provide young people with the stability and space they need to pursue the future they choose for themselves.
The project will include:
- 24 studio apartments and six one-bedroom apartments
- Some provision for single families (2 beds) and couples (1 bed)
- 24/7 on-site staff management and security measures
- Off-street parking
- Convenient access to shopping centres, business and civic centres, a local sports centre, public green spaces, and public transport
