We were delighted to host our inaugural Chair’s Lunch on Tuesday 23 September with our Chair, Tracy Morgan FAICD
The lunch brought attention to the urgent youth homelessness crisis and highlighted Anglicare Southern Queensland’s response, including our $14 million Youth Homelessness Accommodation Project in Beenleigh, which will deliver 30 new units of safe, supportive housing.
Guests heard from Tracy Morgan (Anglicare Southern Queensland Chair), The Most Reverend Jeremy Greaves (Archbishop of Brisbane), Councillor Vicki Howard (Central Ward, Brisbane City Council), and Rees Maddren (Manager of Youth Homeless Services, Anglicare Southern Queensland).

Recent data shows that nearly one in four Australians experiencing homelessness are aged between 12 and 24. In the Brisbane South/Logan corridor, the shortage of immediate accommodation for young people is particularly severe.
That’s why Anglicare Southern Queensland is committed to building a purpose-designed service in Beenleigh that will provide:
- 30 units with up to 42 beds
- Studio and one-bedroom apartments for singles, couples, and young families (ages 16–25), with disability access
- 24/7 on-site support
- Trauma-informed design
- A safe, dignified environment that keeps young people connected to their networks
This commitment is at the heart of our Building Youth a Better Tomorrow Campaign, which aims to raise $7 million for this vital project. Thanks to early generosity, $2 million has already been raised, with a goal to secure the remaining $5 million by June 2026.
Together, we can change the future for young people facing homelessness. To learn more or get involved, visit our dedicated page
A special thank you to St Francis College and Fiddlesticks Quartet for their generous support of the event.
