Common questions

Here are the most frequently asked questions we receive about our funding options.

What is the largest source of funding for residential aged care?

The Australian Government is the main funding source for residential aged care, providing subsidies to approved aged care providers through programs like the Aged Care Act 2024. Residents may also contribute through means-tested fees.

What is the new funding tool for aged care?

The Australian National Aged Care Classification (AN-ACC) replaced ACFI in October 2022. It provides fairer, needs-based funding for residential aged care, focusing on each resident’s care complexity and independence.

How does aged care funding work?

Age care funding takes into account the governmental subsidies and individual contributions. Most care costs are covered by the government through programs such as Support at Home (Home Care Packages) and Residential Aged Care. Individuals may pay fees based on income, assets, and the service chosen.
