Building a sense of safety and wellbeing for young people
By focussing on prevention, early intervention and family dynamics, this program aims to equip children with a sense of security, agency and confidence.
Program details
Safe and Well is a course-based program designed for children aged 5 to 7 years old, however the resources and content can be adapted for older children. The program is based on a 5 – 8 week model, where children work through a resource pack and workbook with activities tailored to their needs.
Parents are invited to attend the first session to assess the child’s requirements, potential risks, and to discuss counselling expectations. Subsequent sessions are conducted one-on-one with a counsellor with the counsellor providing parents with updates and progress as needed.
The program aims to help children:
- Understand and promote their right to safety
- Provide knowledge and skills to respond to situations and people that make them feel unsafe.
Program benefits
The benefits of the Safe and Well counselling program include:
- Empowering children with the skills and confidence to respond to unsafe people and situations
