Operation Kinder Community focuses on building resilience, wellbeing and positive outcomes for children, families and communities. A case manager will be assigned to you to help you identify and achieve your goals.

Healthy families create healthy communities. This program focuses on early intervention and customised support for families so that children can grow into healthy and happy adults.

Program details

Operation Kinder Community is a free family case management program that works with parents in the greater Ipswich area who are wanting to improve the resilience and wellbeing of their children and family unit. Focusing on parenting support, you’ll be assigned a case manager who’ll work with you to identify your needs, current strengths, and resources you need to help you achieve your goals.

Your case manager will work with you in your home, community, or at our office, depending on what’s more convenient, or safer for you and your case manager.

Some of the topics we can cover in our sessions include:

  • Child, parent and family wellbeing
  • Routines and behaviour management support
  • Referrals to specialist services, or to connect to the community
  • School attendance and engagement
  • Developing budgets
  • Understanding child development.

  • Families living in the Greater Ipswich area
  • Families with children aged 0 to 18
  • Families who aren’t currently linked to child safety

Here are the most frequently asked questions we receive about Operation Kinder Community.

Are there any costs or out of pocket fees?

No, there are no costs to participate. The Children and Parenting (C&P) programs are funded by the Australian Government Department of Social Services.

How many sessions do I have to attend?

Your participation is voluntary and you can stop attending at any time. We generally work with families for up to six months or until their goals are met. If you wish to stop earlier, please let your case manager know. If you miss three visits, or we can’t contact you after three attempts, we will close your case.

Can I re-engage in the future?

Yes, you are always welcome to re-engage by contacting the team when you are ready.

Why is this program not available in my area?

The availability of groups depends on facilitator availability in your area and the uptake within your community. Please call your family support worker if you are interested in connecting with this program.
