During Foster and Kinship Carer Week 2021, our Gympie Anglicare Children and Families team commissioned a lovely piece of artwork featuring thumbprints of carer’s, handprints of staff and Child Safety members (some of our little people got in on the act), on canvas.
The artwork is called “Our Village for Our Children” and is about everyone playing a part in keeping children safe.
RECOGNISING CARERS: Gympie Anglicare Children and Families Practitioner Jane Nungarrayi Blunden has recently finished this beautiful artwork featuring thumbprints of carer’s, handprints of staff and Child Safety members (some of our little people got in on the act), on canvas.
The painting was completed by artist Jane Nungarrayi Blunden, with Jane explaining that she had to the painting in small portions then walk away for clarity, become coming back for connection and that is how the piece came together. The completed artwork has been hung at the Gympie Anglicare office. The Gympie Anglicare Children and Families team celebrated Foster and Kinship Carer Week with a delicious morning tea at the Gympie RSL.
Foster and Kinship Carer Week is held annually from Saturday of the Labour Day long weekend in May to the following Saturday, each year. It’s a week to celebrate the thousands of Queenslanders who dedicate their hearts and homes to children and young people in need.
Foster carers play a valuable role in our communities, especially the communities that we serve across southeast Queensland.
