Transitioning to Anglicare
We understand that there may be a range of different reasons for you to explore the possibility of transferring to a different agency. It’s important that you are prepared to find out what other agencies are offering and determine how these offerings can benefit you on your caring journey.
Our team is here to help you understand our point of difference and the range of support we can offer.
The process
-
Do your research
If you’re thinking about transferring agencies, it’s important to do your research to understand what other agencies are doing well and how they can best support your needs. When researching different agencies, it’s also important to understand where they serve, the types of support they offer, and the benefits that they can provide you with. When you start doing your research, we recommend reaching out to and chatting with several agencies. Our service offices are located in Gympie, Sunshine Coast, Moreton Bay, Brisbane, Logan, Gold Coast and Roma. To chat to our teams, please call us on 1300 000 828.
-
Chat with the Department of Child Safety
When transferring agencies, you will need to reach out to the Department of Child Safety to discuss your options. You’ll need to make a formal request to transition, in writing, and explain your reasoning.
-
The Department will reach out to us
After you’ve submitted your request, and have spoken to the Department, the Department will reach out to us to organise the next steps. We will then work with them to establish as much information about you and your circumstances as possible.
-
We will contact you
After chatting with the Department, we will reach out to you to find out a bit more about you and any potential children/ young people in your care.
-
Release of information
As you transition to Anglicare, we will receive your consent to have your information released from your previous agency to ours. This process involves us liaising with your previous agency and the Department. If you currently have children in your care, we’ll work with all relevant stakeholders involved in the child(ren)’s care, to determine if a change will be in their best interest.
-
Home visit
At this point in the transfer process, we will visit your home and do a home safety visit and assess/ request that any adult household members living with you complete a new set of household safety checks.
-
Transfer assessment and approval
Your information and previous records will be reviewed and once this occurs, we will begin the process of approvals. Once you are approved, we will communicate this with you and with your previous agency and the Department of Child Safety.
