Anglicare Homeshare

The Homeshare project responds to the housing crisis by bringing together older people with space to share, and younger people in need of a home. The project explores the opportunities and challenges of ‘home sharing’ or ‘co-housing’ in Southeast Queensland, developing a model that we’re aiming to pilot.

The project will explore the opportunities and challenges of co-housing in southeast Qld, and develop a model that we hope to pilot.

The project has two phases:

Phase 1 will gather the views of people interested in the idea of co-housing to identify barriers, challenges and opportunities.

This phase is being progressed with the University of the Sunshine Coast researchers and The University of Queensland BSocSc students, focusing on different groups of potential co-housing participants.

Phase 2, with the University of the Sunshine Coast, will draw on our learnings from Phase 1 to develop a proposed operational model for an Anglicare co-housing pilot.

Among other factors, we’ll investigate implementation, risk and sustainability issues; financial and legal considerations; possible locations; communication strategies; and an evaluation framework.
