Supporting foster carers every step of the way
Opening your home to a child or young person is a decision that’ll change your life. If you’re ready to begin the foster care journey, you’ll have the guidance and support of a Foster Care Case Practitioner throughout the process – from applying, training, assessing, matching the right child with your family, and more. Whatever challenges or joys you face, our Gympie team will stand by you and the child in your care with empathy, innovation, dedication and courage.
Fostering Gympie: attend one of our information sessions
If you want to become a foster or kinship carer, you can join our regular information sessions in the Gympie Region. These sessions will help you learn from our skilled intake team about the process and rewards of being a foster parent and answer any queries you may have.
We understand the importance of cultural identity
We respect the cultural identity of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children and their right to stay connected to their community.
When it isn’t possible to maintain a connection with the child’s family and community, our Brisbane-based cultural support workers help non-indigenous foster carers and staff to learn about the needs of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander foster children in care, supporting them in a holistic way that values their family, spiritual, community and personal needs. The team also empowers young people to develop a strong sense of identity through activities that celebrate their culture.
