Culturally and Linguistically Diverse Community Day in Townsville!

A Guide to Home Care Services sessions in Townsville…

Anglicare Southern Queensland recently announced to Culturally and Linguistically Diverse (CALD) communities that we are hosting information sessions, called “A Guide to Home Care Services”.

The team spoke about what older people from different cultures experience in Australia, addressing common misconceptions about aged care, and where areas of support and advice could be accessed for potential clients, to help navigate the system.

Multicultural Facilitator (Khai Balabbo) delivered an information session to the Filipino Community in Townsville.

On 14 June, our Multicultural Facilitator (Khai Balabbo) delivered an information session to the Filipino Community in Townsville. The participants left feeling engaged and felt more knowledgeable about the types of aged care services they had access to.

From this, we were also invited to attend their 2022 Filipino Festival on 11-12 June at Strand Park in Townsville!

The annual Filipino Festival provided an opportunity to celebrate Filipino culture and feature cultural, musical, and gastronomic experiences! Anglicare’s presence was well-received, and we were able to showcase our career opportunities and services.

We would like to express our gratitude to The Filipino‐Australian Affiliation of North Queensland (FAANQ), for inviting us and their support towards Anglicare and our projects. Our Multicultural team also recently garnered an increase in interest from other CALD communities – and we’re hoping we can deliver successful information sessions to more communities in the future.

This is a great example of Anglicare’s commitment to supporting multiculturalism and belonging, not just within aged care but our communities too.
