EMBRACE

This project aims to improve the quality use of medications in residential aged care by evaluating how new NHMRC medication guidelines can best be implemented for people living with dementia, and in residential aged care.

This project is evaluating how new NHMRC medication guidelines can best be implemented for people living with dementia, and in residential aged care.

It involves the use of ‘knowledge brokers’ – that is, pharmacists – who are supporting the dissemination of new knowledge, evidence, and the use of the guidelines into everyday practice, and improving medication safety for our residents.

The study is a collaboration between Monash University, Anglicare Southern Queensland, and other aged care providers in four states.

As a residential aged care provider with homes in eight locations across southeast Queensland, and a growing number of Specialist Dementia Care Program units, Anglicare staff value participation in this research, and the potential it offers for improved healthcare for all of our aged care residents.
