What are human rights?
Human rights are a set of rights designed to recognise the values of each person, regardless of where they come from, where they live and what they think or believe. They’re based on dignity, equality and mutual respect and are about being treated fairly and having the ability to make our own choices regarding our lives.
Children’s rights
For information on children’s rights and Anglicare Southern Queensland’s role as a Child Safe Organisation, please visit our Child Safe page.
If you’re a young person in one of our residential care programs, view our residential care rights.
Human rights complaints
If you feel your human rights have been breached, while utilising our service, or you are unhappy with our response, you have the right to access an external complaints agency and external advocacy/support agencies. This includes the right to escalate a human rights complaint to the Queensland Human Rights Commissioner if 45 days have elapsed and you’ve not received a response to the complaint, or you consider your response to be inadequate.
Please visit Australian Human Rights Commission website for more information.
