Anglicare’s advocacy aims to actively contribute to children and young people’s access to the support and care they need, and to reduce the impact of circumstances that prevent them from flourishing.

The life journeys of each of those young people are unique.

We have a responsibility to listen to their voices; and to acknowledge their strengths, skills and lived experience to inform our joint advocacy in a way that is meaningful to them.

The Queensland Government’s announcement of extended care until the age of 21 from July 2023 was very welcome and exciting news for Home Stretch advocates in July 2022!

The Youth Voices project was a channel for young people to influence youth policy, program development and service delivery in government, schools and community organisations — to communicate what they saw as a flourishing life, and the supports they needed to achieve that.
In Hanging by a Thread: Our Search for Home, young people from Anglicare’s youth homelessness services explored their personal perceptions of home and homelessness through their photography.
