My Aged Care Interpreting services available

An Indigenous interpreting service and translated resources are now available via My Aged Care.

My Aged Care is the first point of contact for all Australians who hope to access government-funded, government-regulated aged care services.

The service now provides a more inclusive experience for Aboriginal and Torres Islander people through an interpreting service, translated brochures and other targeted resources, and videos including translations in Arrernte, Pitjantjatjara, Torres Strait Creole (Yumplatok) and Warlpiri.

Anglicare Southern Queensland’s Cultural Capability Facilitator, Olivene Yasso explains how the services is a step forward for our First Nations People to access required services.

“What a great resource for our Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and communities.”

“Language and communication has always been a barrier to gaining the desired and/or appropriate services or interventions needed and this is one step forward to improving access to our Elderly and their families or carers.” Olivene says.

To access these services call My Aged Care on 1800 200 422 and ask for an interpreter in the preferred language or visit the website myagedcare.gov.au
