Water Exercise program
The water exercise program is a great low-impact, non-weight-bearing activity to keep you fit and healthy. The classes are conducted in a heated pool and are run by qualified instructors to provide a safe and gentle environment for exercise.

The program is versatile and can be enjoyed by people of all ages and is suitable for all types of fitness levels.

Walking program
The walking program is designed to be a casual yet involving form of both social and physical activity, delivering many benefits including improved general health and wellbeing. 

Walking doesn’t need to be strenuous for the benefits to be felt. The program promotes improved energy and stamina, improving your confidence, balance and coordination which allows you to live independently for longer. Walking also helps with weight management, and reduces your blood pressure, risk of falling, anxiety and depression.

Our walking program allows you to go at your own pace and visit interesting places. We know walking can be hungry work, so morning or afternoon tea is provided.

Tai Chi program
Originating in ancient China, Tai Chi is one of the most effective exercises for the health of both mind and body. Tai Chi is a low impact, slow movement exercise suitable for people of all ages. It can be particularly beneficial for those that may be living with arthritis, have balance problems, Parkinson’s disease, fibromyalgia or diabetes, but the benefits can be felt by all. The program is an hour-long session with morning or afternoon tea and a chance to socialise with fellow participants.

Seated Exercise program
Perfect for all ages and fitness levels, this seated exercise program is for those that want to move their body without putting undue stress or strain on the body. The gentle sitting exercises will help lubricate joints and keep them flexible, strengthen and stabilise individual muscles and increate blood circulation. They help to prevent falls and help make it easier for you to accomplish your day-to-day physical activities.

Don’t worry if you haven’t done much for a while, the seated exercise program is gentle and easy to follow.

Out-and-About Social Support Groups
Our out-and-about social groups allow you to maintain an active social life and remain socially included through fun and engaging community activities. The activities are generally full days visiting interesting sites and events in the local community such as heritage sites, parks, beaches and shows. We enjoy morning and afternoon tea and often sample some of the local cuisine at a restaurant for lunch.

Lungs In Action program
Lungs in Action is an exercise maintenance program designed for people with stable chronic lung conditions who have completed a pulmonary rehab program. The program is fitness-based and assists you to maintain and extend the benefits achieved through pulmonary and heart rehabilitation.

The program is conducted by fitness instructors or allied health professionals, who will take you through a range of exercises suited to your ability. They will monitor you throughout the session to achieve the best possible outcome for you. Light refreshments are provided after the session and the opportunity for you to socialise with other members of the group or to chat with the instructors.

Please note, clients can only be referred to the program by the Pulmonary and Heart-Failure Rehabilitation Program, physiotherapist, or their GP. The Pulmonary and Heart-Failure Rehabilitation Program must have been completed within the last 12 months.

Hydrotherapy program
The allied-health based program, Hydrotherapy, is run by a qualified physiotherapist and held in a heated pool that involves the use of water for pain relief and treatment. Using the physical properties of water such as temperature and pressure for therapeutic purposes, hydrotherapy assists in stimulating blood circulation to treat the symptoms of certain diseases, including chronic pain, arthritis, and balance problems. 

The long-term benefits of hydrotherapy may include pain management, improved mobility, function, stability, circulation and flexibility, alongside a decrease in stress levels. 

It is not necessary to be a competent swimmer to participate in hydrotherapy classes, as they are conducted in safe and shallow water.

Please note, all participants require their GP’s clearance to ensure suitability to participate.

Fishing
Any fisherman (and woman) would agree that the gentle lapping of waves and tug on a fishing line is enough to push any stress far from the mind. Besides improving your mental wellbeing, fishing can also improve your physical health and is an ideal hobby for anyone, no matter your age or ability.

Our fishing program is available either mornings or afternoons where we visit a variety of locations. Morning or afternoon tea is provided along with the opportunity to meet and connect with new people who share similar interests.

Craft program
The craft program offers a safe and social environment to let the participant’s creative juices flow. Participants learn new skills, renew social networks and reconnect with their communities – all with a sense of accomplishment.

Centre-Based Day Respite
Our centre-based respite program is designed to support, challenge, and enhance the physical, social, and intellectual wellbeing of people of all ages and abilities. The program is designed to reduce social isolation through group activities that build bonds and foster friendships. These include a range of special events and meaningful activities. Morning tea and/or lunch is provided.

Balance program
The balance program sessions are one hour sessions conducted and supervised by qualified staff, and is tailored to the specific needs of each individual.

The program combines the benefits of exercise with social engagement, and is suitable for those with balance problems, generalised deconditioning or mobility impairments. Those in the program have recognised many benefits including improved mobility and function, improved strength and stability, increased fitness and a decrease in isolation.

Art Therapy
The art program is focussed on promoting self-awareness, expression and sensory stimulation through a variety of artistic mediums. The program has proven beneficial in improving cognitive skills and intellectual stimulation, refinement of motor skills and improved relaxation, all whilst reducing boredom, stress levels and depression.

Gym program
The gym program is specially tailored and supported by qualified staff to enable you to improve fitness and mobility. There are regular evaluations to ensure that the program continues to suit your needs and goals.

The gym program is varied and suitable for those of all levels of fitness and ability. The program improves muscle strength and joint movement, whilst managing cholesterol and blood pressure. The program has also been shown to decrease stress, anxiety, depression and fatigue. It can also promote quality sleep and provides more energy to help you accomplish your day-to-day activities.
