Anglicare celebrates Aged Care Employee Day
RECENTLY we celebrated Aged Care Employee Day on Saturday August 7 thanking our many staff who each and every day go above and beyond to look after and care for the seniors of our community.
It’s the staff doing the laundry, team on the frontline wearing PPE, our scheduling team setting up appointments and maintenance team ensuring grab rails are correctly installed to a clients wall to make their home safe.
A huge shout out to the friendly team who answer the calls from families in crisis providing advice to access aged care funding, the ICT team who ensure those phones and systems are working, the finance team who manage payments and the admin staff who welcome families into Residential Aged Care.
It’s a team effort, and we recognise the important role every single person plays to ensure our seniors have the support they need to continue living the life they want.
Group Manager for Residential Aged Care and Retirement Villages Nick Hansen said Anglicare supports thousands of Queenslanders each day.
“Here at Anglicare everyday, over 2000 dedicated aged care workers care and support more than 30,000 older Queenslanders to remain living in their own home or to live in one of our residential aged care homes,” Mr Hansen said.
“It’s a wonderful commitment to be supporting Queenslanders to remain living where they choose.
“Thank you on behalf of Anglicare for everything that you do and in addition to that for your resilience, compassion and dedication over the past 18 months.”
“It has been a very trying time and we really appreciate all of your support and dedication.”
Aged Care Employee Day was first established in 2018 and has grown into a national event, celebrated across Australia honouring the many thousands of people working in aged care around the country and the extraordinary role they play in caring for senior Australians.
According to the Australian Government there are currently 365,000 aged care employees across Australia, dedicated to caring for 1.3 million older Australians.
By 2050, the number of people receiving aged care services is expected to triple and with that the aged care workforce needs to grow to more than 1 million people.
